Album: Bonobo – Migration

Genre: Electronica/Acid Jazz  Release Date: January 13, 2017
Migration is Bonobo’s sixth album, expanding his library of ambient electronica. In this album. Bonobo captures a perfect mood for listening during existential contemplation, it’s made for easy listening. This album will set a standard for experimental electronica artists in 2017. Catch Bonobo at The Ready Room on May 16th, 2017.

Genre: EDM/Funk   Release Date: January 20, 2017
Grizmatik, the hybrid of Griz and Gramatik, is back with a new collaborative track As We Proceed. The high energy track has the funky vibes from Gramatik as well some saxophone mastery from Griz himself. This is definitely going to be one of the early party tracks of 2017. Single: Foxing –  Two (Redwoods and Indica)


Genre: Indie Rock  Release Date: January 13, 2017
These are two songs by St. Louis natives, Foxing—both are re-makes of songs on their 2015 album Dealer. Redwoods Two features female vocals of Lena Woods, which departs from the signature vocals of Conor Murphy. Both songs provide a fresh new spin on old classics and we’re happy to see new content from the band.

Album: Barclay Crenshaw – Self Titled Debutbarclay-crenshaw-album-cover-art

Genre: House/Hip Hop  Release Date: January 27, 2017
Founder of DirtyBird Records Claude VonStroke debuted his first full album under name Barclay Crenshaw. Using his real name for the project, he hones in on the minimalist sound that makes his music truly unique. The heavily Hip Hop influenced album contains haunting vocals and rhythmic beats that won’t leave your head.

Single: Son Volt – Cherokee Stsonvolt-notes-of-blue

Genre: Country Alternative  Release Date: January 12, 2017
Saint Louis locals Son Volt debuted their track Cherokee St which tells the story of the South City culture center that is home to many artists and venues that make up the Sound of STL. Son Volt has an album coming out February 17th and will be playing March 18th at The Pageant on Delmar.

Single: FKJ – Go Back Home

Genre: Electronic  Release Date: January 13, 2017
This is an incredibly catchy and melodic new track by FKJ, also known as “French Kiwi Juice”. He successfully put his classic groovy spin on this electronic track and it’s perfect to dance to. We’re hoping for new content like this from FKJ soon.

Genre: Rap/Hip Hop  Release Date: January 27, 2017
Local independent recording artist Jeremy Remond dropped his brand new and infectious single Don’t Touch Me which features production by Dylan Graham. The full force track shows off his creative lyrical ability and ear for a solid track. You will not want to listen to this at anything other than full volume.

Single: Spoon – Hot Thoughts

Genre: Alternative Rock  Release Date: January 17, 2017
Hot Thoughts is a new single by Spoon, which will be the title song for their new album to be released in March 2017. It’s great to see a band who started in the 1990’s continuing to make new music that’s still reminiscent of their catchy indie-pop-rock sound. This track is sexy and leaves us in anticipation for the new album.

 EP: The Bloom Experience – [SIN]SESartworks-000199832601-0prpmv-t500x500

Genre: Indie Release Date: December 21, 2016
Local artist Bloom’s recent release was too good not to include despite it actually being released at the end of 2016. Her soulful vocals and true artistry of sound are captivating. This EP is more than just a collection of songs, it is a well thought out display of raw emotion. Bloom is currently working on a new EP and taking a break from shows.

Track: Father John Misty – Pure Comedy945889_915410498566535_2522769294248164001_n

Genre: Indie Rock  Release Date: January 24, 2017
Pure Comedy is the title song of Father John Misty’s newly announced album that will come out in April 2017. This track continues his reputation for witty lyrics touching on politics and religion, blended with his soulful voice. The instrumentals are ballad-like with a touch of saxophone near the end. We’re looking forward to the full album.
